About
A billing partner that works only with anaesthesiologists.
We exist because anaesthesiologists deserve a billing partner that treats their work as the only category — not as one category among many.
01
Mission
PractiSync exists because anaesthesiologists deserve a billing partner who works only with anaesthesiologists.
Most billing bureaus treat anaesthetic claims as one category among many. We treat them as the only category. Every claim we submit, every modifier we apply, every scheme we engage with sits inside a single specialist context — and that focus is the foundation of everything we do for our clients’ practices.
02
Why we exist
Anaesthetic billing is technically demanding work. Time units must be calculated correctly. Modifiers must be applied accurately. Scheme behaviour varies in ways that experienced specialists understand and generalists routinely miss. The consequences of getting it wrong are not small — over a year, the loss to a busy private practice can be material.
For most anaesthesiologists, the choice has historically been between a generalist bureau that bills for many specialties or in-house billing managed alongside the demands of clinical work. Neither serves the practitioner well. The first dilutes specialism; the second dilutes clinical focus.
PractiSync was founded to offer a third option: a billing partner that specialises exclusively in anaesthetic practice, takes the administrative burden off the anaesthesiologist, and treats every claim with the technical seriousness the work requires.
03
Our founders
The firm is a partnership of two — clinical-domain depth and technology / operating discipline.
Managing Director — Operations
Marli Goldberg
Seven years specialising in the billing of anaesthetic practices. Marli built her experience inside the discipline — anaesthetic coding, the specific behaviours of South African medical schemes, and the operational rhythm of a private anaesthetic practice. She is the practitioner-facing partner for every PractiSync client.
Managing Director — Technology & Strategy
Jonathan Goldberg
Senior technology experience from outside the medical sector. Jonathan leads the technology and strategic functions of the firm, and is responsible for continuous investment in the methodology, tooling, and infrastructure that supports our clients’ practices.
The founding partnership is deliberate. Marli brings the clinical-domain depth. Jonathan brings the technology and operating discipline. The firm exists at the intersection of both.
04
Our clients
PractiSync works with a focused portfolio of long-tenured anaesthetic clients in South Africa. Our longest client has been with us since founding.
We grow carefully. The firm is built around personal relationships with each practitioner — a billing partner who knows your name, your hospitals, your standing list arrangements, and your scheme mix. We are not a high-volume bureau, and we do not intend to become one.
05
How we work
Three principles that govern every engagement.
Specialism is non-negotiable
We do not bill for radiology, pathology, GP practice, or any other specialty. Every member of the firm works exclusively on anaesthetic claims.
Accuracy before activity
We would rather submit a smaller number of correctly coded claims than a larger number that generate scheme queries, short-payments, or write-offs. Technical quality is the foundation of revenue performance.
Practitioner relationships are personal
Every client has a direct line to Marli. Billing is too important — and too connected to clinical work — to be mediated through call centres or generic support tickets.
06
Where we are going
PractiSync is a young firm with a long horizon. Our objective is to be the definitive specialist anaesthetic billing partner in South African private practice — not the largest, but the most trusted, the most technically competent, and the most aligned with the working life of an anaesthesiologist.
We are continuously investing in the methodology and tooling that supports our clients’ practices. The detail of that investment is something we discuss directly with our clients, not the broader market.
